Hotel Britannia´s history is a product of innovation and passion - built by local active business people. Hotel Britannia was established in 1965 by a group of active business people from Esbjerg. The local architect Sottrup Jensen was chosen for the assignment and received great inspiration from SAS Royal in Copenhagen. The hotel, like the SAS Royal, was almost exclusively furnished with Danish furniture art by Arne Jacobsen.

The hotel opened with 39 rooms, restaurant, bar and banqueting rooms.

In 1973, a local businessman named Tage Nyborg took over the hotel. He implemented a major extension in 1989, which meant that the hotel now had 79 rooms, two restaurants and banqueting rooms.

In early 2000, the current owner Eivind Dam Jensen buys Hotel Britannia. Which means that the hotel has been unique to local hands since its opening in 1965.

In 2007 a thorough restoration and expansion will begin. Inspired by the traditions of the place and with a stylish and elegant expression, the Hotel Britannia has been renovated as a new unique experience in the heart of the city, and today it has 108 rooms, 10 conference and banqueting rooms.
We have excellent facilities for disabled guest with lift to all floors and the entire hotel is wheelchair accessible.

The gastronomic front has also been in a rapid development. Our restaurant Brasserie B is designed to be the ultimate destination for an evening out, where the chef focuses on the detail. Breakfast and Sunday brunch are offered in a stylish and relaxed environment - outside like inside.

The hotel is also known for creating the perfect musical framework in Esbjerg's famous bar and venue Underground.
